Deep in the heart of the Surrey Badlands in Ye Olde England lies.. Fabulous Rockfold Studio. Home of the MC Sound, or as I call it, 'The Hit Factory'.

Well, OK, it's my home project studio. However, I am very attached to the place, and occasionally quite proud of the music that comes out of it.

When we moved down here to the Surrey / Sussex border my first job was to get the house in order, but after that, around 2010, I started on the studio.

The job was mainly about fitting soundproofing, but nevertheless took some months to achieve, and I wouldn't fancy trying to do it again now.

My first project was 'the Rambunctious Blues Experiment' with drummer Russell Chaney and Dangerous Dave on the harp. Encouraged by the success of this I had the arrogance to think I could do it all myself, so I purchased a snare drum and later a hi-hat and set to work.

My first true solo album was 'Ramdango' and surprisingly it was well received, got played on the radio and sold well, so further encouraged I continued to put out more albums.

I record on an obsolete digital workstation and try to keep everything as organic as possible - using the room as much as I can as opposed to doing it all 'in the box'. I have a variety of vintage amps to play through, or simulators as required.

The drum track is achieved by a mixture of live drumming and samples, and I use my limited abilities on the keyboards to cheat as much as possible. I master the tracks in a separate place using the latest DAW gear.

I've said many times that making music is my great pleasure and my therapy. So I'm still in the studio nearly every day, all these years later, keeping myself almost sane. I hope you enjoy the music.
