Mick writes:
A collection of some recent singles, some older tracks which I thought could do with a fresh airing, and the brand new 'Care Home Blues'.
01 Pink Champagne
First released 2021 here's Joe Liggins' 'Pink Champagne'.
I first heard this by Georgie Fame and always assumed it was a Mose Allison song.. that was before the internet.
Anyway it's a rockin' little number, reproduced here in glorious mono - the way records were supposed to be made!
02 I Fall To Pieces
Patsy Cline's great hit from the 60s.
03 Banker's Blues
Bill Broonzy's song with a little of Rory Gallagher's influence!
04 Imagination
My version of Gladys Knight's hit with arrangement via Bobby Bland.
05 Don't Go No Further
Here's my version of a great Muddy Waters track - a catchy little number by Willie Dixon. Personally I don't eat grits, but if I did I'd know where to get 'em. Thanks Muddy.
06 the Line of Maple Trees
A tale of Canadian airmen serving on an English airfield - WWII.
07 Care Home Blues
Dedicated to my late brother Derek, who introduced me to Elvis, Lonnie Donnegan and bent notes!
08 Chauffeur
Derived from Memphis Minnie's 'Me and my Chauffeur Blues' - the song from the chauffeur's angle.
09 Good Name Hat
From 2019 - a funky little jam.
10 the Water Is Rising
From 2019 - originally written for Trump's presidency. Still relevant.
11 Breaking Up Somebody's Home
From 2019 - Great song which I knew mainly from Anne Peebles. Written by Al Jackson.
12 Please Baby
From 2019 - Bo Carter wrote this for the Mississippi Sheiks way back when. Great song.
