Here's my version of Elmore's classic.

I got my cataracts done recently - very good - I now have bionic eyes and can read the chyrons on the tele again, although I do need reading glasses. Anyway, since they didn't want me driving home from the hospital I had to get a bus up there, and while hanging around the bus station I dropped into that rare thing, a record shop.

A great shop too, packed with old Taste and Deep Purple vinyl. And while I was browsing, the guy put on a record of someone playing dirty slide guitar over a twelve bar shuffle.

I hadn't expected to be listening to such great music on my eye op day, and in that context it sounded wonderful. Didn't actually sound like Elmore, but apparently it was.. one of his earlier more obscure tracks. Anyway it made me think.. that's what I need to do .. a straight ahead shuffle and some wailing slide. So here it is.

The slide's on my 1930s Harmony archtop with the Rhythm Chief pickup.. same type Elmore used.. and I used his D tuning too, and mixed in mono. 'I got the blues before sunrise - tears standing in my eyes'.. great stuff.
