Mick writes:

I first heard this song on my very first visit to London's Marquee Club, performed by The Jeff Beck Group. The band was Jeff with Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood on second guitar, Dave Ambrose on bass and session drummer Carlo Little. It was effin' great.

The effect of that riff being hammered home through a wall of Marshall amps was thrilling, along with Jeff's expertise and swagger. They probably played it twice.. they were a bit short of material at the time! But it kind of stuck in the head of a young aspiring blues guitarist from Merton Park.

As I've documented elsewhere, I did get to meet Wolf, and my greatest claim to fame was tuning Hubert Sumlin's guitar for him. Ha! Beat that!

So anyway.. great song, and I hope I haven't screwed it up too much. At least there's none of what Wolf called 'that goddammed wah wah!'.

Mick Clarke - Ain't Superstitious Well, I ain't superstitious, but a black cat just cross my trail
Well, I ain't superstitious black cat just cross my trail
Don't sweep me with no broom, I might get put in jail

When my right hand itches, I'll get some money for sure
When my right hand itches, I gets money for sure
But when my left eye jump, somebody got to go

Well, the dogs gonna howl all over my neighborhood
Whoa, the dogs gonna howl all over my neighborhood
Bad sign baby, yeah you know that ain't no good

Well, I ain't superstitious, black cat just cross my trail
Well, I ain't superstitious but a black cat just cross my trail
Don't sweep me with no broom, I might get put in jail
