I got into Hank Williams' music back in the late 1970s, but I never heard this song until it appeared on Little Feat's collection of outtakes and demos "Hoy Hoy". That version was basically, I think, Lowell George recording a home demo, but it sounded great - and what a brilliant song.

So recently I was listening to Hank's original and again it struck me what a great song it was, so.. well it had to be done.

So here's my "Lonesome Whistle Blow" - a sorry tale of a poor unfortunate who's gone off the rails (sorry) and is doing time down in Georgia. "Just a kid - acting smart - I went and broke my darlin's heart".. what a writer. Slightly out of my normal style but I hope you like it.
