Mick writes:

This is my version of a relatively obscure track from a great album by the Country Rock band, Poco - 'A Good Feeling To Know'. This was a popular album back at our flat in Tooting, South London in the 1970s, when it would take its turn on the record player between Little Feat and the Doobie Brothers, the whole experience being enhanced by a steady supply of mind altering substances. 'Shall I put one together?'

I rediscovered the album recently and it still sounds great, and for some reason I got the idea of taking this song and setting it to a rolling shuffle with some slide guitar. I have to say I really love the result - nice to do a track with a decent tune! Although of course the usual problems arise - is it blues? Country? Rock? To me it's all the same, but I've always been a bit strange like that.

So.. we'll see. The song was written by guitarist Paul Cotton - I've no idea what it's about - if you can understand the lyrics you've taken way too many drugs. But looking out and seeing a new light can't be a bad thing.

Keeper of the Fire.. Rock On..

Oh.. and once you see the old man's face in the fire, you'll never unsee it..just to let you know..

Mick Clarke - Keeper of the Fire' Somebody called the keeper of the fire
Holy smoke, I hope he ain't no liar
'Cause I've heard tell that while we're sleeping
All is well and safely keeping, we're only seeking

Then it came a morning, we were feeling just the same
Caring less, let it snow itself to rain
Easy summer, we're hung out high and dry
Somebody save us from this feeling, feeling in our eyes

Lookin' out there was a new light burnin'
I turned about, everyone there kept on turnin'
Came on through like a childhood yearnin'

Somebody called the keeper of the fire
Holy smoke, I surely hope he ain't no liar
