Do Me Right

Mick writes:

A rocking little shuffle, originally written and recorded by Lowell Fulson - singer guitar player who wrote and recorded 'Tramp' (later a big hit for Otis Redding) and the classic 'Reconsider Baby' - covered by Eric Clapton.

I went to see Lowell at the 100 Club, London back in the late 60s or early 70s. He was getting on a bit but still good.. playing his big white and gold Gretsch as I remember.

About halfway through he introduced BB King, who got up out of the audience right behind me and made his way to the stage. He performed, I think, 'Sweet Little Angel', singing a couple of verses and playing just one, perfect, economical less is more 12 bar solo. A class act in every way.

The artwork is from a classic film noir movie, 'The Big Combo', 1955. The guy looks to me like he's worried..going to visit his / dame /doll whatever the popular term was in those days. He needs her to 'Do Me Right'.
